Product Certifications

Every P4 Series dispenser ships with the following certifications active and current.

ETL
Issued by Intertek

ETL Listed

The ETL mark certifies that the P4 Series has been independently tested and found to comply with the applicable ANSI/UL product safety standards for LPG dispensing equipment:

  • UL 495 — Electrical Dispensing Devices for LP Gas
  • UL 1203 — Explosion-Proof and Dust-Ignition-Proof Electrical Equipment
  • UL 1238 — Control Equipment for Flammable Liquid Dispensing
  • UL 508 — Industrial Control Equipment
NTEP
Category 1 — Highest W&M Designation

NTEP Category 1 Certified

The National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) Certificate of Conformance confirms the P4 Series meets the requirements of NIST Handbook 44 for use in commercial transactions. Category 1 is the highest designation available in the United States.

As a Category 1 device, the P4 Series does not require a mechanical seal. All calibration and configuration changes are tracked electronically in an event log maintained by the calculator and accessible to any weights-and-measures inspector at any time. Refer to the NTEP Type Certificate for full conformance details.

CE
European Conformity

CE Marked

The CE mark certifies that the P4 Series meets the applicable European Union safety, health, and environmental protection requirements. CE marking enables the lawful sale and installation of P4 Series dispensers across EU member states and countries that accept CE conformity.

GOST
Russian Federal Standard

GOST Certified

GOST certification confirms compliance with Russian federal standards for measuring instruments and fuel dispensing equipment, enabling lawful sale, import, and use of P4 Series dispensers in Russia and CIS member states.

Standards Compliance

The P4 Series is designed and manufactured to satisfy the following codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

NFPA 58
Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, Chapter 6 — governs LP-Gas dispensing systems, equipment design, and installation requirements at fueling facilities.
NFPA 30A
Code for Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages — establishes installation requirements for motor fuel dispensing equipment including LPG autogas stations.
NFPA 70 / NEC
Article 514 / Class 1 Div. I–II
National Electrical Code — the P4 Series is rated for NEC Class 1, Division I and II hazardous locations as defined by NFPA 70 and Article 514 (Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities).
CEC
Canadian Electrical Code — applicable to installations in Canadian jurisdictions. P4 Series construction is consistent with CEC requirements for electrical equipment in hazardous locations.
CSA 22.2 #30
Explosion Proof Enclosures for Use in Hazardous Locations — P4 Series enclosure meets the CSA standard for explosion-proof construction in Class I hazardous areas.
CSA 22.2 #22
Electrical Equipment for Use in Flammable and Combustible Fluid Dispensing Equipment — covers construction and performance requirements for dispensing equipment electrical components.
CSA 22.2 #142
Process Control Equipment — applies to the P4 Series electronic calculator and control circuitry used to manage dispensing operations.
CSA 22.2 #157
Intrinsically Safe and Non-Incendive Equipment for Hazardous Locations — governs low-energy circuits and signal interfaces in hazardous area equipment.
CAN1/CGA 12.4
Dispensing Devices for Propane Fuel for Highway Vehicles — Canadian standard for LP-gas dispensing devices used in autogas and fleet vehicle fueling applications.
UL 495 / 1203 / 1238 / 508
ANSI/UL product safety standards covering electrical LP-gas dispensing devices, explosion-proof construction, control equipment for flammable liquid dispensing, and industrial control equipment. All covered under the ETL listing.
API Standard 2450
ASTM D 1250 / ISO R91
Volume correction tables used by the P4 Series Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) system to adjust LPG delivery volume to the 60°F reference standard for legally traceable, accurate transactions.

Hazardous Area Classification

NEC Class 1, Division I and II

All Parafour P4 Series dispensers are rated for installation in NEC Class 1, Division I and Division II hazardous locations — the classification that applies to LPG autogas and fleet fueling facilities under NFPA 70 and Article 514.

Per NFPA 30A Figure 8.3.1, the hazardous area zone around an LPG dispenser cabinet extends 18 inches horizontally and 48 inches vertically from any point where LP-Gas vapor may be released. Every electrical component of the P4 Series — enclosure, wiring entries, displays, and control interfaces — is designed and certified for continuous operation within this classified zone.

Installers should verify local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements. The P4 Series meets the equipment requirements for this classification without modification or additional enclosures.
